    I think it is best to skip the webpages and go for an extended visit (ie: months or years).

    You need to find a Costa Rican than you trust that can search out properties for you.

    I find all the internet listings are the upper scale (price wise) properties. What's the difference between a $50K and a $100K property?

    The first answer might be "the price", but the real answer (in Costa Rica anyway) might really be "the nationality of the 'buyer'".
