    07/09/08 15:00

With tourism being Costa Rica's one major source of income, small hotels, or hotels with an average of around 18 rooms, play an important role in the cycle. Some of them, sadly, are in need of major renovations and drastic improvement.

    07/09/08 14:34
Americans do not have to feel dampened just because Costa Rica does not celebrate the Fourth of July as much as America does (and I will be surprised if it does). Maybe it is too late to tell you now, but I guess it isn't late for next year.

In Costa Rica, expat communities do the usual Fourth of July celebrations Americans ceremonially do since childhood. For a more detailed article on the festivities, read this.

Americans should be involved in Costa Rican politics, says this blogger

    07/01/08 14:06
The recent news article about Costa Rican intelligence units reporting only to the President has triggered a lot of reactions from locals, gringos, and those from other countries. Perhaps this revelation has just shown how little the world knows about Costa Rica. It seems evident by the fact that a lot of Americans spend millions of dollars here without even knowing the local history, says this blogger.
