German shipping company Hamburg Sud announced the formation of a satellite office here in Costa Rica. The satellite head office will manage the container shipping activities in the nation.This is in line with Costa Rica's growing importance in the global trading arena, something which Hamburg Sud intends to tap into soon. A Costa Rican Constitutional Court suspended the extradition to the United States of Nicole Kater, 28 and U.S. citizen, which is accused of kidnapping her child Tierra Zion Gehl-Kater and bringing her in Costa Rica.Kater was under an order from a northern California court not to leave country due to a pending decision on the child custody. A higher court overturned the ruling that a Costa Rican initially rejected the U.S. extradition request and Kater was handed over to U.S. authorities last 17th of December. Capitalism has taught us that in competition, there are opportunities for consumers to win. Unfortunately, in Costa Rica, the telecommunications industry is managed by a sole company, to the dismay of Costa Rican locals and expats alike.For instance, getting a phone line in this Central American nation takes many months.
