I am so excited about the forth coming Miss Universe 2011 beauty contest on September 12. It will be held in Brazil and I think that it is really exciting. Aside from the fact that these ladies will be judged not only for their beauties but for their intelligence, body, beauty and overall personality. In other words, they should be a complete package. In order to win, you should stand out from the rest of the 89 contestants and show your confidence to the people. It's just a matter of how you carry yourself.News: Costa Rica's Joanna Solano Aspires For First Miss Unive

Feminist groups and even other activist groups were formed because some people felt the need to be together to fight for their rights and causes. Feminist groups then fight for the rights of women, mostly against sexual harassment and discrimination, which still happens in different parts of the world. A lot of races still regard women as lower class of citizens who should have very limited rights in the society. This practice has got to end now because we are all humans and we were all created equal by God.News: Dispute Between Catholic Bishops and Feminists in Costa

I just received an email from a colleague about some bacteria in the bottle water that we currently have in our water dispensers in the office. Oh my! Bacteria in filtered water that's supposed to be safe? If there are harmful parasites there, how much more in the water that comes straight out of our faucets and showers each day? Come to think of it, do we really know if your water supply is safe for drinking or for everyday use? Maybe it is time to know the water quality in our areas today.News: Mosquitoes Test Water Quality in Costa Rica -- NTDTV.co

Costa Rica is the only country in the Americas that doesn't approved of a medical procedure to bear children. In-vitro fertilization was banned in the country more than a decade ago. The hope of lifting the ban locally has been lost when the bill for it was killed by the lawmakers. The next now is taking the case in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. More about this, on the link below.News: AFP: Costa Rica's in-vitro fertilization ban challenged

It is good to see that Costa Rica is investing in improving their infrastructure as without stability in this sector, there is no hope for a country to succeed. I know this first hand as I live in eastern Japan that even now is dealing with the Fukushima reactors and what to do about the power generating capability lost thanks to the disasters that struck here. Companies are hesitant to invest further here (both foreign and domestic) and even Japanese companies, thanks to the strong Yen at time of writing, are gobbling up overseas companies at a much higher rate in order to diversify their risk against natural disasters.News: Geothermal Plant Inaugurated in Costa Rica - Domestic
