    Gasoline costs rise

    Despite the drop of fuel prices in the international market, the price of gasoline in Costa Rica has risen by around 2%.

    This increase was approved by the nation's Public Services Regulatory Authority last month before the drop of fuel prices in the international market.

    Space flights to be offered in 2010

    It looks like the tourism of the next generation will increasingliy focus on outer space trips. This will be most definitely felt in Costa Rica by 2010.

    Come 2010, outer space trip tickets will be offered by travel agent Terra Nova to interested parties. Though the price of a ticket is not yet revealed, Terra Nova officials said that reservations should be made early.

    National Museum to undergo restoration

    At long last, Costa Rica's worn-out National Museum will have its well-deserve restoration.

    This restoration, led by Ronald Quesada, is set to finish in 2010. This will be the first project of its kind here in Costa Rica in 50 years.

    This restoration project is set to restore not only the Museum's historical pieces, but all spaces as well. Let us hope for the best in this endeavor.

    Costa Rican food prices highest in the region, says study

    Costa Rica may be one of the most developed countries in Central America, but is surely has the most expensive food items in the region.

    This is what the results of a recent economic survey has showed. The study, conducted by the Costa Rican consumer protection agency, shows that the nation has the highest prices for basic food items in the region, which includes Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.

    Costa Rica prohibits child beating

    Moving out of its old ways, the Costa Rican government has finally passed a law that will prohibit parents and anyone with legal authority to beat, pinch, and discipline minors through physical or emotional distress.

    Costa Rica is the second country to sign such a law in the region, but it will still come a long way before Costa Ricans finally accept this law.

    Coffee production expected to go down

    Coffee is one of Costa Rica's most largely produced crops, at more than one million 60-kilogram bags of coffee beans every year.
